If you want to manually submit your own site to each search engine, simply click on the name of the search engine you want to add your site to and follow their instructions. Although there are thousands of search engines, 90% of Internet users use the top 10 search engines. They are great for searching, but not so great for getting listed on if you are trying to manually submit your site. Some take months to update their indexes, others now charge for submissions, so be warned.

Excite Excite has partnered with LookSmart to offer Express Submit, the fast and easy way to submit your site to the Excite directory and the entire LookSmart Network. They charge a one-time payment of $149 US for basic submission.

AOL Netfind AOL Search is a hierarchical Web directory, organized by subject. All user-submitted Web content is maintained by the Open Directory Project (http://www.dmoz.org). The Open Directory Project is run by a staff of volunteer editors who choose to evaluate and classify Web sites in one or more categories. The editor exercises the option of choosing to add a site, moving sites between categories and creating new sites.

Alta Vista Alta Vista is a very powerful search tool. When submitting your site you'll be asked to copy a randomly supplied submission code to authorise your submission.

Infoseek Infoseek and Go are now one and the same. Impressive search results.

Snap Snap receive business data from several sources [ie other search engines] and don't take web site submissions in their Yellow section direct, although they do offer a paid for service. You can, however, add your contact details and e-mail address by clicking here.
